My stay at Hotel Iris was a mixed bag. The staff were friendly and quick during check-in and check-out, which I appreciated. However, the room could have used a deep clean, as I noticed some stains and a discolored refrigerator. It was basic, nothing fancy, but it served its purpose for my trip to San Diego.

Rooms
6.0
The condition of the room left something to be desired. There were stains on the carpet and the bed was overly springy, not the most comfortable. Still, the bathroom was clean, which was a plus.
Service
7.0
I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, responding quickly to my requests for extra blankets due to a noisy heater. However, some staff seemed less experienced.
Location
8.0
The location was great. There were plenty of shopping centers and restaurants nearby, making it easy to find food and essentials. It was a bit noisy at night from traffic, though.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were a bit lacking. There weren’t many protein options in the nearby cafe, just basic muffins and fruit. Bringing in my own food was necessary.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities felt more like a motel. The pool area wasn't the cleanest, and the overall maintenance of the place seemed to need some attention.

6.0/10

My stay at Hotel Iris was quite average. While the location was fantastic, just across the street from Fashion Valley Mall and conveniently close to the freeway, the experience had its shortcomings. The room itself didn't quite match the pictures, with some unfinished repairs and a few maintenance issues. Overall, it served its purpose for a one or two-night stay, but I wouldn't say it was worth the price I paid.

Rooms
5.0
The room was small and had several maintenance issues including unfinished repairs. I found the bathroom poorly lit and the shower uncomfortable.
Service
6.0
While check-in was easy, the staff's attitude varied. I had a pleasant interaction with one staff member who helped me find a great dinner spot, but overall, the service felt inconsistent.
Location
6.0
The location was perfect for accessing the freeway and nearby attractions like SeaWorld and downtown. However, the noise from the freeway was noticeable.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast options were lacking; I missed having any protein choices like eggs or yogurt. The selection could have been much better.
Facilities
5.0
The pool was clean, and the area was well-maintained. However, there was only one ice machine by the pool, which felt a bit sparse.

5.0/10

My stay at the Iris Hotel was quite disappointing. While the location was convenient for my activities, the overall experience was marred by uncleanliness and a lack of basic amenities. I encountered cockroaches in my room, and the lack of hot water on multiple occasions left me frustrated. I expected more from my stay, especially considering the price I paid.

Rooms
5.0
The room was dated and poorly maintained; I was greeted by cockroaches, and the overall cleanliness was lacking. Additionally, there was no refrigerator or coffee maker, and the room had a musty smell.
Service
5.0
While some of the staff were friendly, interactions with management were less than desirable. I struggled to communicate my concerns, and when I inquired about a refund for the pet deposit, the staff was rude.
Location
6.0
The location was easy to locate and close to attractions I wanted to visit, making it convenient for my plans. However, that was one of the few positives.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were limited and did not meet expectations. The supposed breakfast was a letdown, and I really missed having a decent coffee maker in the room.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were lacking; the room had thin walls, leading to a lot of noise disruptions, and services like housekeeping seemed inconsistent. Also, I found it unusual that there was no elevator.

5.6/10

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Iris. On one hand, the location was convenient for access to attractions and my room was clean and affordable. On the other hand, I encountered some issues like a malfunctioning fridge in my kitchenette room and a lack of attention to detail in maintenance. Overall, I think the hotel offers decent value, but I'd recommend checking your room thoroughly upon arrival.

Rooms
7.0
When I checked in, my first room was clean and comfortable, but the second one had issues like a non-working fridge. Some repairs seemed unfinished and gave a run-down vibe.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. They addressed my concerns promptly and tried to help with the issues I faced.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was a big plus, close to attractions and easy to find. It was perfect for accessing local dining and entertainment.
Dining
5.0
It would have been nice to have some breakfast options available, but there was coffee in the lobby during checkout hours.
Facilities
6.0
The pool area was nice and clean, but some amenities in my room, like the phone and TV, weren't working.

5.6/10

My stay at Hotel Iris was mixed. I appreciated the friendly staff and the clean, modern bathroom, but I faced issues with the hot water and some room amenities. Given the circumstances, I was hoping for better communication and support from the management.

Rooms
5.0
While the room was an average size with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom, I encountered problems like a non-functioning microwave and a serious lack of hot water throughout my stay. The overall condition of the room did feel a bit dated, and the amenities were not in the best state.
Service
6.0
The staff was generally nice and went above and beyond with the check-in process, even allowing me to use the restroom early. However, when it came to rectifying the hot water issue, there was a noticeable absence of follow-up from management, which was disappointing.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was fantastic, with easy access to shopping and dining nearby. It is also just a short distance from popular attractions like the zoo and the freeway.
Dining
5.0
I found the dining options lacking, especially during breakfast. A few more protein choices would have been beneficial, as the offerings were minimal.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were decent overall. Housekeeping maintained cleanliness well, but some features in the room, like the microwave and tub safety, need attention.
